Robert Wise was born on September 10, 1914 in Winchester, Indiana, USA. He started his film career when his brother, who worked at RKO, got him a job as an assistent editor. He worked his way up to being a full editor and eventually edited several films inculding My Favorite Wife and The Magnificent Ambersons. In 1944, he was put behind the camera as codirector of The Curse of the Cat People. And after that he directed his first film, The Body Snatcher. He worked for RKO until 1948 when he then did the film, Blood on the Moon. After that, he did The Set-Up which proved to be a positive turning point in his career. In the 1950's he did a number of sucessful films including Executive Suite and Sombody Up There Likes Me. He was even nominated for best director for his movie I Want to Live! Then in 1961 he directed West Side Story which won him best director and the film best picture! Then of course came The Sound of Music in which he also won best director and best picture for. Since The Sound of Music he has directed The Sand Pebbles, Star! (with Julie Andrews), Two People, and many more.
Screenplay written by Ernest Lehman
Ernest Lehman was born on December 8, 1915 in New York, USA. He grew up on Long Island and graduated from New York's City College. He got one of his first jobs as a copywriter for a broadway publicist. He also worked as a radio comedy writer, and as editor of a financial magazine. He then did some short stories for Collier's magazine. One of them which was titled "The Comedian" led him to his first job as a screenwriter. Since then he has written screenplays for some of the most beloved films including Exacutive Suite, The King and I, West Side Story, Hello Dolly!, Somebody Up There Likes Me, and of course, The Sound of Music.

Saul Chaplin was born on February 19, 1912 in New York, USA. He did many different kinds of work in films like a composing, songwriting, arranging, and producing. He was educated at the NYU school of Commerce. When he was a young man he joined an orchestra as a violinist, and in 1936 he joined ASCAP. Then in 1941 he came to Hollywood. He has produced many films, including West Side Story and of course The Sound of Music. He also has done many popular-song compositions like "Tell me why", "Posin, and "You Wonderful You". Sadly, due to injuries from a fall he passed away in November of 1970.

Maria von Trapp- Julie Andrews
Julie Andrews was born Julia Elizabeth Wells on October 1, 1935. When she was very young her stepfather, Ted Andrews, discovered her "freak" but wonderful four-octave voice. Throughout her childhood and teens she performed all over London with her stepfather and mother and at age 19 she went to America to star on broadway in "The Boyfriend". It was a hit and soon after she was cast in two other great broadway shows "My Fair Lady" and "Camelot". One night Walt Disney attended "Camelot". He recognized Julie's talent and after the show asked her if she would like to be in a movie he was making that was combined live-action and animation. This movie was, of course, "Mary Poppins". Julie accepted his offer. "Mary Poppins" opened in 1964 and was a huge success! It launched Julie's career and she even received an Oscar for best actress. But Julie's biggest sucess was still yet to come. After "Mary Poppins" Julie's did the movies "The Americanization of Emily" and then her most popular movie by far "The Sound of Music". By 1965 Julie was hollywoods new star! After "The Sound of Music" Julie did many films including "Thoroughly Modern Millie", "Star!", "Darling Lili", and "Victor/Victoria". She has also written many childrens books. Julie's most recent films are "One Special Night", "The Princess Diaries", "The Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement" and "Shrek 2".
